Fellowship program

The Michael Manzella Foundation Summer Fellowship program honors Michael’s legacy through its support of cancer/medical research, children’s causes, cancer research, and the arts. Each year since 1996, these fellowships have been awarded to help Yale University undergraduate and graduate students fulfill summer projects that have long-reaching and beneficial effects for both the students and the community. To date, over 30 exceptional Yale students have been selected as recipients of the Michael Manzella Foundation Fellowship, with an average grant award of $1,500.  Recipients of the 2009 Manzella Fellowships include:

Sarah Ballatori - Cancer research in Belgium on the vasculature of tumors.  

Yuzhe Feng - Created a Memory Book for children orphaned by AIDS in central China.   

Julia Lemle- Helped impoverished children in Burkina Faso with education and nutrition. 

Kelvin Vu- Designed a play area for disadvantaged youth in New London, Connecticut in conjunction with the FRESH Community Garden project.
