DEBT-FREE EDUCATION FOR MILITARY CHILDREN

Over the last 25 years, it is estimated that over 15,000 children of military personnel have lost a parent to combat or duty related accidents. These children are left with financial struggles making it difficult to fund a college education. This year, MMF donated $3,000 to Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation (www.fallenpatriots.org) to help ensure that these suffering children receive educational counseling and a debt-free college education.

FUNDING ARTIST IN THE INNER CITY

MMF is dedicated to supporting all types of artists. Since 1998, MMF has provided over $20,000 to DreamYard Prepatory School (Bronx, NY) (www.dyprep.org), enabling inner-city students to receive high-quality music instruction, build discipline, develop confidence in their voices and improve their stage presence. “Music is my passion and the music program at DY Prep has allowed me to share my emotions and passion with others”... BEDSIDE MUSIC FOR CRITICALLY ILL CHILDREN

In 1999, musician Kenli Mattus performed a concert for patients at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City, and the effect of the beautiful music was uplifting and transformative for the patients in the audience. However, not all patients were able to attend so they decided to bring the concert to them. MMF is proud to support Musicians on Call (www.musiciansoncall.org) with a grant of $5,000 to provide bedside musical performances and instruction to pediatric patients at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

PROVIDING SUMMER FUN AT CAMP

This summer, MMF’s grant of $3,000 will enable a child diagnosed with cancer to attend Camp Rising Sun (www.camprisingsun.org) in Northwest Connecticut, a volunteer-run camp for children (ages 5-17) who have been diagnosed with cancer. MMF’s camper will participate in many activities including a ROPES course, arts and crafts, field sports, basketball, tennis and dancing. The Camp began in 1983 with just eight campers and this year celebrated its 30th anniversary with over 100 campers.
